Mas sobre Francia – More about France

Francia es un pais muy centralizado debido a su historia, todo pasa por Paris. De momento este pais cuenta con 62,000,000 habitantes (sin contar Francia en ultramar). En algunas estadisticas Francia salio en segundo lugar en un listado de los paises mas sociales del mundo (después de Suecia y antes de Alemania). Hay muchos inmigrantes, mas que nada de antiguas colonias ubicadas en el norte de Africa.

Valores

Lo que los franceses valoran mucho son comida y familia. Ademas hay cierto respecto en relacion a la privacidad del individuo. Eso significa por ejemplo que a menudo no te hacen preguntas cuando te ven en la oficina y se dan cuenta que algo esta mal contigo (excepto si te conocen realmente bien). No quieren molestarte. Este comportamiento puede resultar extraño para algunos extranjeros dependiente de la cultura de su pais de origen.

Carros son algo que poco importan en este pais. Son objetos del uso cotidiano y no es sorprendente ver a un francés abriendo la puerta de su carro y casi tirandola hacia el carro estacionado al lado. Estacionar con poco o mucho contacto con otros carros/ objetos tampoco es razon para preocuparse.

Idioma

Como ya se sabe los franceses, tienen dificultades hablando idiomas extranjeros. Eso se debe sobre todo al sistema escolar que tienen, pero también por la variedad de silabas en la lengua francesa. En comparacion con el aleman por ejemplo es menos. Por tanto creciendo se acostumbran a lo que conocen y su habilidad de escuchar y pronunciar otro tipo de silabas se pierde.

El idioma francés es uno de los mas formales que conozco, las construcciones de las frases son mas bien complicadas y el francés en si mas bien indirecto. Conforme a eso se expresan. Testimonio son frases del tipo ” Te invito a que hagas…” en vez de decir “Por favor haz…” o “Tendria ganas de decir…” en lugar de decir justamente lo que quieren decir directamente.  Ademas los franceses tienden de ser de los mas corteses cuando se dirigen hacia ti. Al mismo tiempo pueden escribir las mas largas frases sin que digan algo.

France is a very centralized country due to its history, everything goes through Paris. This country has currently about 62,000,000 inhabitants (without counting oversea France). In some statistics France was in the second place in a ranking of the most social countries worldwide (after Sweden and before Germany). It has lots of immigrants especially from former colonies situated in Northern Africa.

Values

What does matter to French are food and family. Furthermore they demonstrate a certain respect for the privacy of an individual. That means for example that often they don’t ask any questions when they see you in the office and they realize that there is something wrong with you (except for those that know you well). They just do not want to bother you. This behavior may appear to be funny to some foreigners depending of their cultural background.

Cars are of very little value in this country. They are for daily use and it is not astonishing seeing a French opening his car door and nearly  slamming it right into another car parked next to this.  Parking with more or less contact to other cars/ objects are not subject of major concerns either.

Language

As widely known Frenchmen do have a problem speaking foreign languages. This is particularly because of their school system, but probably also due to the fact that the French language has less syllables than for example German. When they grow up, they get used to what they speak and listen to and loose the ability to pronounce and hear syllables different from their native language.

The French language  is one of the most formal I know, the sentences’ constructions are rather complicated and French itself is pretty indirect. According to that they express themselves. Evidence of that are expressions like “I invite you to do…” instead of saying “Please do…” or “I feel like saying…” instead of just saying what they want to say directly. Apart from that French tend to be very polite when they address you. At the same time they can write several sentences without saying anything at all.
